When you think about it, silent letters in English are part of what makes it such a difficult language for foreigners to learn…if you ‘k-now’ what I mean.

I have lived, and still live, in a country where English is not the language of the population and so I have helped many people, in various parts of the World, to speak English as they know it is my Mother Tongue as Im British.
One of the main questions I get asked is… why do you have the letter K in front of the word knife when the sound of that word would be more like NIFE… I just laugh and suggest that English is a bloody crazy language and that’s why the World wishes to speak it over all the others.
Why does Salmon have the letter L in there?.
Why do we not nock on a Door rather than knock on a door?.
Why do we have to have knowledge but appear to lack in noledge?.
My brain hurts.
Common sense is not hilarious , that is why in school I never passed a spelling test ! my method was sound spelling theirs was to make people like me look dumb especially girls they were ace spellers and word mechanics , what it is is what it is , my world stopping to send a message in correct spelling is the difference between the quick or the dead .
It’s hysterically true! I often play these games with folks I know will understand and play along with me. It’s a riot when we get going and people are listening to us.
