Egyptian Muslim terrorist who plotted to slaughter Jews in New York was known by the FBI since 2022

An 18-year-old Egyptian national and known sympathizer of ISIS and Al Qaeda was arrested this week for allegedly plotting a mass-casualty terrorist attack on Israel’s general consulate in New York City. The suspect, Abdullah Ezzeldin Taha Mohamed Hassan, is a glaring example of the failed U.S. immigration and national security policies that allow hostile, foreign-born Islamic radicals to live, study, and plot terror attacks on American soil.

RAIR Foundation According to the Washington Post, Hassan, a freshman at George Mason University in Virginia, had been known to the FBI since at least 2022 for spreading Islamic State propaganda online. Despite this, the U.S. government did not deport him. Instead, he was allowed to remain in the country, enroll in an American university, and plot a terror attack so meticulously that he selected the exact size of ball bearings for maximum carnage and planned escape flights to Africa.
Hassan described New York as a “goldmine of targets,” specifically identifying Jewish people as his intended victims. He provided detailed instructions for building a TATP suicide bomb and suggested alternate weapons, such as assault rifles and homemade explosives, to an undercover FBI agent. Hassan’s goal was unambiguous: maximum death, maximum terror, targeted at Jews.
The FBI’s charging documents reveal that Hassan had been under suspicion for years. He left a digital paper trail of terror propaganda, including antisemitic calls for mass violence and instructional videos on bomb-making. The government knew. They watched. And yet they failed to act.
How many more warnings does America need? From 9/11 to the Boston Marathon bombings to countless thwarted plots, the Islamic threat remains real. It is not theoretical, it is not isolated, and it is not “extremism without roots.” The Islamic “religion” that inspired Hassan to target Jewish lives exists, and it continues to thrive among hostile non-Americans allowed to live, study, and plot within our borders.

Only a few days ago when this story broke in the news I read that the FBI boasted that it signals a shift in their tactics in not waiting for the actual terrorist attack to happen but to make the arrest earlier at a planning or conspiratorial phase. With BNI’s report that the FBI knew about him since 2022 the question is why did they not move in even sooner? I expect that the jihadi’s lawyer will argue either entrapment by the FBI or an insanity defense. If all this is actually true (& i suspect it is) then I would love for the jihadi to be convicted and sentenced to federal prison for a very long time. However, I also have doubts about the FBI’s credibility. It is a sad thing to say and feel, but too many Trump associates hauled off in leg irons or arrested at night by SWAT teams plus busting Christian anti-abortion activists and parental opponents of transgenders using their preferred school toilets and locker rooms have taken a price from the FBI’s credibility. I hope that new type of bureau leadership would put the agency back on the rails.

  3. A black Egyptian- there aren’t many of those. We have more blacks than Egypt has. Anyway, Egyptians overpopulate like roaches, even though there is no housing or land for them. It’s their jihad, to expand Islam in other countries. They will all tell you that. This stick with a head on it is just doing what he’s been programmed since birth. If “peaceful” jihad doesn’t work, violent jihad is even better (to him).
