Here in Toronto, I was wondering why so many variety stores owned for many years by Koreans or Chinese are now being staffed by South Asians or Middle Easterners. When one owner put up a sign that it would soon be under new management, I ask him what was happening and he said because he was offered such an unbelievably good offer, he sold the business (I’m think the new owners are Bangladeshi, but possibly could be Pakistani or Afghans) and was going back to Korean to retire.
