Turkey went behind NATO’s back and acquired SAM-400’s from Russia. Whose side are they on? I’m sure that they did not do so to acquire this defense system for NATO to examine to discover annd exploit its weaknesses.

“Amongst” isn’t necessarily incorrect, but “among” is the more natural and modern choice in American English. “Amongst” tends to sound more archaic or poetic and is more commonly used in British English, though even there, “among” is preferred in most cases.
Guilty as charged! My early education was British whose rich poetry I admire to this day. America has corrected my English in so many ways, but I see that ‘amongst’ still endures in my lexicon!
