While ‘Jihad Squad’ Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar signs a letter demanding release from police custody of Mahmoud Khalil, a foreign national facing deportation by the Trump administration over is role in violent pro-Hamas/anti-Israel campus protests, Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, is raising money for Khalil’s legal defense.
Breitbart (h/t Thereza B) Khalil is a “Hamas sympathizer who espouses violent, anti-American views,” with the Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) student organization — which he served as a senior activist in — calling for the “total eradication of Western civilization.”.
The online fundraiser, launched after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained Khalil, and the State Department revoked his visa and green card, has so far surpassed $360,000, exceeding its initial $250,000 goal.
Organizers have since raised the target to $500,000, stating that the funds will support Khalil’s legal defense, provide financial aid to his family, and contribute to “long-term justice efforts” to hold authorities “accountable” for his detention.
“Before his detention, he was targeted by a coordinated smear campaign, with individuals falsely framing his activism as criminal behavior,” the campaign states.
Hirsi, a Barnard College senior and far-left activist, shared the fundraiser on her Instagram, urging her followers to contribute. She later criticized Columbia faculty for staying silent on Khalil’s arrest, calling their response “shameful behavior.”
Hirsi posted another Instagram story throwing shade at university faculty who remained silent following Khalil’s arrest. She shared a post saying “the academic cowers” and added the caption, “if you are wondering where our esteemed faculty are … shameful behavior.”
Hirsi has a history of taking radical positions, becoming heavily involved in the anti-Israel movement after Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack. She has participated in protests at Columbia University, Barnard’s sister school, and was arrested and suspended in April after refusing to vacate an illegal encampment on the Ivy League school’s campus.
Alongside Khalil, Hirsi is an organizer with Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD)and with Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine, two student groups that have endorsed “armed resistance” and praised terrorists. Both groups also led the recent storming of two Barnard campus buildings, during which radical activists disseminated Hamas pamphlets and clashed with security guards, sending one to the hospital. Video footage placed Khalil at the most recent building storming.
Several videos have since been released showing violent disruptive campus activities purportedly led by Khalil. New video shows the violence that Mahmoud Khalil led while at Columbia. This is not free speech. It’s violence.

Mahmoud Khalil, dressed in a hoodie featuring Hamas spokesperson Abu Obaida, was seen inciting violence against Jews mere hours after disrupting a pro-Israel march in Hampstead, Quebec. He urged protesters to “destroy” and “explode the heads of Zionists.”
