To tell the truth, Easter eggs, Christmas and Christmas trees had nothing whatsoever to do w/Yeshua of Nazareth. Did you know there was a genocidal war between two of the tribes of Israel, I believe Dan was one of the tribes. The tribe of Dan (at least I think it was them) blocked all crossings across the Jordan river and ANYONE who could not correctly pronounce the Hebrew word Shibboleth was put to the sword (because apparently the Jewish tribe they were warring with couldn’t pronounce the word Shibboleth correctly). What’s fascinating is that whatever their inter-tribal beef was has been lost to history.
Here’s the background, I have no idea who the Gileadites are, so maybe it wasn’t a Jewish tribal war. Maybe I should learn the correct way to pronounce shibboleth as well — at least if I want to visit Israel.
