British prison guards have been calling for more protection “for years” to avoid attacks like this one by a Muslim terrorist. Three officers sustained life-threatening injuries from the attack launched by one of the Manchester Arena bombers, Hashem Abedi, who has been jailed for life.
Abedi threw hot cooking oil over the guards before stabbing them with “improvised knives” from the kitchen. The convicts are permitted access to a kitchen where Abedi sourced oil and was able to craft two blades out of a baking tray before he covered the officers in sizzling oil and stabbed them. This Muslim had attacked a guard in the past but was allowed the freedom to cook his own food putting prison staff at risk.
