India has had Christians more than 1500 years before America was even an idea. Remember the Apostle Thomas (“the Doubter”). His denomination has been around in India for 2000 years now. Obviously they found a welcoming safe haven.
Christians are well represented in all active occupations, including the Armed forces. Our Naval admirals have been Christians.
India is home to some of the most beautiful church buildings such as Mount Mary, Mumbai, and St. Xavier’s, Goa. and St. Paul’s Cathedral in Calcutta. Now these are only 3 names J remember on top of my mind, but there’s thousands of church buildings.
There have been a few incidents against Christians, but mainly because of the U.S.-based missionaries, especially the Baptists not playing by the rules.

I don’t mind Christian proselytizing; I’m used to it from my time at LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Our rector’s assistant, a kind-hearted Christian woman, was genuinely nice, as you’d expect in the Deep South. She invited me to her church, and I spent time with her family. The church even spoke a collective prayer to drive the “Hindu demons” from my mind. I played along for two reasons: first, she had influence over my potential expulsion from the university, so I needed to stay on good terms; second, it was a nice, if slightly odd, experience.
Later, they invited me to their Christmas dinner and kindly offered a roast leg of lamb. I had casually mentioned that we eat lamb in India, not expecting them to take it seriously, but they did. They were curious about “holy cows” and other cultural differences, not out of malice but from genuine concern that I was “lost.” They even played Cajun music, which reminded me of my trip to New Orleans, where I enjoyed the jazz scene, though I don’t often listen to that genre.

I used to know many Indian Christians in the past. They”re well-integrated as they hang out with the Hindus. Rarely demand their separate spaces.
Hindu-Christian mixed marriages are pretty common, especially if they’re Catholics. But even Anglicans are well-integrated.
