Strictly speaking the only kufar allowed to pay the jizya are “people of the book”. For everyone, else, Buddhists, Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Druze, atheists your choice is simple: convert to islam or die.

According to the Hanafi school, I’d be eligible for Jizya as a Hindu in Islamic territory. That includes Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon. (LIGHT GREEN color)
According to the Mailki school, I’d be eligible for the binary choice of Islam or death. That’s prevalent in much of Central Africa and the Maghreb. (CYAN color)
According to the Shafi school, my status is ambilvalent. This means the verdict is not out on how they’re supposed to handle polytheists like me. Individual Islamic judges may force me to pay the Jizya, simply kill me because I’m a polytheist, or just leave me alone depending on their mood. However in practice, this school ignores my polytheism and simply considers me non-Muslim. Much of Indonesia and Malaysia falls in that category where there apply those rules in a relaxed manner as they have many Hindus living among them, Yemen, as Horn of Africa and parts of Syria are more dangerous (BLUE color)
The Hanbali school is my nightmare. That school just does not recognize the existence of polytheists. According to them, polytheists are just not supposed to exist. Saudi Arabia is the main example. However, in practice, many Hindus work in Saudi Arabia but they’re supposed to hide their religious beliefs. No prayers or assembly allowed. So, they comply with the rules to stay invisible. I have committed this part to my memory. Even if I’m drunk, intoxicated, or injured, I don’t forget this Quran guidance
1) Don’t get into a Muslim owned taxi
2) Don’t go to an enclosed space with only Muslims around you.. Elevators, cul de sacs, dead end roads
3) Keep your eyes on a Moslame’s limbs when he or she is in physical proximity. They can pull a knife, use chloroform on a napkin.
4) Don’t trust Muslim bartenders. You’ll find a few that pretend to be liberal like ghoulame. They can spike your drinks.
5) Buy kidnapping insurance – I’m usually insured up to $500000 when traveling to a new country for kidnapping. It’s worth the small short term premium.

I have encountered more Moslames that drink than you’d imagine. They’re allowed to use alcohol as a means to an end. Not for enjoying it like normal people but only to befriend, win the trust of Kuffar.
