Yes, we have the same problem here. I am not a religious Jew, but would ever deny being a Jew or a big supporter of Israel. Problem is, there are a lot of far left Jews in America who claim Jewish ancestry, but do not want to be identified as Jews. But recently, since the Gaza war, many Jews are coming to understand that the far left are not their friends, but the Republicans are.
Jewish is not only a religion, it’s people coming from différent countries, and also, it’s an identity …
So you identify yourself as a jew, but you may have a personnal view about your beliefs …

I have always been puzzled by people that claim, “I am not a religious Jew”. The descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Israel) have a long-standing covenant with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the True Living God.
Going back to before my going overseas for a decade or so, I was a member of the Temple Brotherhood at B’nai Jeshurun Temple. Don’t ask me how/what/why that occurred as it’s a very long and involved story. My residual nerve pain makes typing rather difficult.
But, good grief, you are privileged to have an actual contract with the One Living God. It wouldn’t take much to worship Him, Praise Him, and follow Him into the halls of worship.
You don’t have to keep kosher, simply live a righteous life and worship Him. It shouldn’t be too difficult.
