You might be surprised but Canada has roughly as many guns as it has people. And I mean legal guns. I myself have owned two .22 rifles and a Lee Enfield.303 illegally.

Until 2008, the Lee Enfield 303 was the most popular standard issue assault rifle used by Indian state police and paramilitary organizations such as the CRPF. But not the Indian Army.
I know this CRPF veteran who is often drunk and verbally abusive to me like our good friend , AM. š
He had participated in many counterinsurgency operations from Kashmir to the borders of Pakistan and Assam/Myanmar. He says his unit always found the 303 Lee-Enfield as a āconfidence boosterā in close combat. Probably due to its exceptional stopping power, reliability.
The 303 7.7 mm rounds were slightly larger and heavier than the AK-47ās 7.62Ć39 mm l.. It does have a reputation for delivering greater kinetic energy, resulting in more severe wounds, that much I know especially at ranges up to 500 meters. A single well-placed shot can incapacitate or kill an enemy outright.
But the slow rate of fire means the weapon should not stand a chance against AK-47s. My CRPF pal says his unit felt otherwise. They depended on the 303 fof intense battle situations.
This invincibility was practically destroyed in November 2008 when Mumbai State police and CRPF armed with 303s got outgunned and were murdered in cold blood due to intense fire by AK-47 wielding Pakistani terrorists.
That was the end of the 303 era in India. Now our State police and CRPF mainly uses the INSAS 5.56 NATO which is primarily based on AKM but incorporates designs from other EU rifles. They’re also issued Heckler & Koch MP5 and SIG-716.
Those newer weapons look way cooler. But I’m sure 303 has many stories of reliability.
