Used to be there on business during the mid nineties. Japan was extremely, extremely selective about whom they let in as immigrants and particularly those from the religion of peace. What they used to do to thwart charges of not taking in refugees is that they donated HUGE sums of monies are aid and grants to each cause. Sad to learn that they have hundreds of thousands of these ‘peaceful’ people amongst them, whose native population is in a decline. It is but a matter of time when they are going to be outbred!

I remember they used to so strict about foreigners. If I didn’t renew my student/work visas on time, I knew the immigration police would be at my door soon after.
It’s not uncommon, in fact it is common, for married women to keep their “maiden names”. It’s been that way since before the Edo Bakufu. Taking the husband’s surname came about from Western influence and was not widespread.

I just wish that Western “journalists” would learn how to pronounce her surname correctly. “Takachi” is a totally different family line than Takaichi. You, speaking japaner talk, know that the “a-ee” is run quickly together and sounds like a long “a” sound, although to the discerning ear, one can hear the definite two vowel sounds. It isn’t an “ah”, that would be like pronouncing “Watson” as wait-sone”. A world leader deserves having their name pronounced correctly.
Japan’s non-Moslem population is in free fall, alas, and might be invaded somewhere along the line a couple of decades further into the 21st century by Indonesian Mohammedan males, who, although relatively non-bellicose, could be whipped up into genocidal frenzy by some Arabic-speaking Sheikhs and Imams, who embark on 🌎 world 🌎 tours to deliver Arabic-language Khutbas, straight from the non-toned down Koran, Ahadeeth, Tafaseer, and Sira!

There have been several scholastic studies of population swings in the japans. Historically, there were times when the population would be half of that a few generations prior. Large growth in population followed by zero growth and then outright plunges.
