Unlike countries in Europe and the United States, where Muslim immigrants find it easy to build parallel societies, Muslims in Japan are facing strong resistance to their demands for special accommodations that support their Islamic traditions and religious beliefs. At the same time, their unwillingness to assimilate into Japanese culture and society, is taken as very offensive by the Japanese people.
As a result, the Japanese people have taken to the streets to oppose Muslim immigration and demand deportation of the Muslims who refuse to adapt to Japanese norms.
Japan is facing a serious problem with illegal immigration particularly among Muslim communities who refuse to abide by Japanese customs and insist on establishing their own. As a result, the ratings of the far right Sanseito and the Conservative Party of Japan are increasing, and the government is now led by the ultraconservative, pro-Trump Japanese woman Sanae Takaichi, who said “Japan will strictly handle foreign nationals who do not follow the rules,” but there was no mention of mass deportations, rather targeted ones.
TheConversation Sanae Takaichi has made history by becoming Japan’s first female prime minister. However, this was hardly a win for feminist or progressive politics. Takaichi is a right-wing ultraconservative whose policy positions derive from traditionalist perspectives on the role of women, Japanese history and society more broadly.
She has the same anti-immigrant positions as conservatives and right-wing populists the world over, defending “national identity and traditional values”, while emphasising the importance of strong economic growth.
Kimi Onoda was tapped by Takaichi for a number of roles, chiefly economic security minister and minister in charge of a “society of well-ordered and harmonious coexistence with foreign nationals.”
Onoda said that Japan “will strictly handle foreign nationals who do not follow the rules,” but there was no mention of mass deportations. “The inappropriate use of various systems by some (Muslim) foreign residents, their crimes and misbehavior are causing anxiety and a sense of unfairness among Japanese people,” she said.

Takaichi advocates for foreign workers in specified fields where the country has labour shortages, albeit under strict criteria (such as Japanese language ability, training and oversight). And she opposes the mass settlement of immigrants, or the large-scale granting of political rights to foreign residents. While her policies have so far been short on detail, she has framed foreigners as a danger to national cohesion that needs to be strictly controlled.
Japan’s number of foreign-born residents reached a record high of 3.6 million this year, representing around 3% of the population. But this is far lower than many other developed economies.
Across the world, older populations tend to be more susceptible to anti-immigrant scare campaigns from right-wing conservative media and politicians. Japan is no exception. Politicians such as Takaichi, therefore, see electoral benefits in colouring immigration and foreigners as a threat to social harmony or cultural heritage.
As a result, ageing countries like Japan that are most in need of immigration are often the most resistant to it. Instead, many right-wing conservatives in these countries promote pro-natalist policies – encouraging women from the dominant racial or ethnic group to have more babies – as a solution that boosts populations and maintains cultural and racial homogeneity.
Conservatives are pushing Japan to take a similar pro-natalist approach rather than rely on increased immigration.
Japan needs to return to its more traditional way of thinking, for their safety. Be like the Chinese, who consider Islam to be a mental illness.
They used to be super strict on immigration, making it very hard for foreigners to get any visa other than a tourist visa. But then their birth rate tanked and they had to import laborers. Unfortunately they got most of them from Indonesia, the largest Muslim country on earth.

The only thing I can think of is that the Japanese have a long history of animosity against their Chinese and Korean neighbors, which means they don’t want them working in Japan. So they decided to import cheap labor from Indonesia, perhaps ignorant about the problems Muslims create for any host country in which they live. Just a theory, based on the experiences I had living there.
Most of the Korean residents of the japans are descendants of those brought in, by force, to those islands.
When the japaners wanted better ceramics, they raided Korean celedon artists and brought them to the japan islands as slaves. Some were escaping and the japaners attempted an experiment. They placed blindfolds on the ceramic artists and told them to continue to produce. If the quality were to drop, they would be severely tortured.
The artists produced products that were acceptable. So, the japaners cut out the eyes of all of them. That cut back on escapes.
That is but one example of how Koreans made it to the Japan Islands.

When I was in Japan in the’70’s, most Koreans had adopted Japanese names, to avoid discrimination.
Not just that. To be a japaner citizen, you have to adopt a japaner surname.
Just like in mezsko; tested to be fluent in the mezskin version of Spanish (they don’t speak anything remotely close to classic Castilian) and adopt a Spanish surname. Carlos “Slim” Helu isn’t exactly a Lebanese Maronite Christian name.

Japan has a long history of population decreases and increases.
There were periods, consisting of three generations, wherein the population halved. Then, it would rebound. You’re probably familiar with the koseki system. That structured family registry has been keeping track of population since the early 6th century.
I well recall that the population growth of Japan, following WWII, was of such a high number that world experts were concerned that those tiny islands wouldn’t be able to handle the future population(s).
They have NO need of importing workers.

I am shocked and surprised that there are any foreigner overstaying their visas and still remaining in Japan. I am surprised too that there are any illegal Muslim immigrants who have been even let into their nation! They are (used to be) extremely selective about whom they let into their country, and strictly no one with immigrant intent! Japan used to funnel hundreds of millions of dollars as ‘charity’ towards any Muslim conflict areas and causes to fend off accusations of not taking in refugees. Alas liberalism seems to have overtaken even this most conservative of societies, and a society with an aging population and negative population growth!
Yes things there have changed. I remember when I was there, once on a student visa and once on a work visa. I knew if I didn’t renew those visas every 6 months without delay, officials would be at my door to take me to the airport, no excuses accepted.
