Afghans are unpredictable and dangerous. I once met one who said he “liked” me and that I seemed a wonderful guy.
We were laughing and joking. It was good fun, for a while.
Then I said something about leaving and offered to shake his hands. He immediately pulled his knife and put it to my throat “you ain’t going nowhere till I say so.”
I was forced to converse with him for another two hours saying nice things about Afghanistan then I was able to make some excuse about “my mother being sick” before he let me go.
