Gunmen opened fire during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, killing 11 16 people and wounding 29 40 others in what authorities are calling an anti-Semitic terrorist attack. A heroic Arab Muslim Christian fruit shop owner, Ahmed Al Ahmed, tackled one of the shooters and wrestled away his weapon, suffering gunshot wounds in the process. Police have conducted raids across Sydney and are investigating the attack with assistance from the Australian Federal Police and ASIO.
UPDATE: The death toll in antisemitic terror attack on Australia’s world-famous Bondi Beach has surged to at least 16 — with 40 injured in the harrowing onslaught. The victims include a 10-year-old girl, a popular rabbi and an elderly Holocaust survivor.

NY Post The terrorist gunmen who opened fire on a Hanukkah celebration on Australia’s world-famous Bondi Beach were allowed to continue their attack for more than 10 minutes — leaving at least 11 victims dead and 29 others wounded, shocking video from the scene reveals.
Footage shows the two terrorists, at least one of whom had a shotgun, firing round after round from a bridge overlooking the family-friendly Chanukah by the Sea 2025 event — which had a petting zoo and a bubble station for the kids.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the slaughter, “a targeted attack on Jewish Australians on the first day of Hanukkah.” Jewish leaders, including several of the victims, warned the left-wing government — as recently as days before the attack — that antisemitism was dangerously escalating in the nation of 27.5 million people.
One of the Muslim suspects has been identified as Naveed Akram, according to Australian media.
Harrowing cell phone footage shows that the gunmen went unchallenged for more than 10 minutes — despite cops reportedly being nearby.
One furious Israeli-Australian survivor said that the shooting went on for up to 20 minutes. “Twenty minutes with four policemen there — nobody give fire back. Nothing, like they are froze,” said the witness, who revealed he covered his children with his body while watching the horror unfold. He added: “Four policemen there didn’t give fire back. I don’t understand why.”

Eyewitness Shmulik Scuri , one of the survivors of the terror attack at a Bondi Beach Hanukkah celebration said four police officers just “froze” during the 20-minute rampage.
“Twenty minutes with four policemen there — nobody give fire back. Nothing, like they are froze,” said the witness, who revealed he covered his children with his body while watching the horror unfold. He added: “Four policemen there didn’t give fire back. I don’t understand why.” “For 20 minutes. They shoot, shoot. Change magazines. And just shoot,” the witness told reporters.

When asked who they were targeting, he responded, “Everyone. Jews. Men, old, kids, everyone. It doesn’t matter.” A 12-year-old girl and a rabbi were among those killed during the attack.
It wasn’t until a good Samaritan, a local fruit seller and father of two named Ahmed al-Ahmed, disarmed one of the shooters that police appeared to return fire, video shows. Video posted on social media captured al-Ahmed sneaking behind cars before tackling one of the gunmen, ripping the firearm out of his grasp and aiming at the suspect as he crawled away. CORRECTION: Hero Ahmed al Ahmed is not an Arab Muslim:
He is a Christian Maronite!
The hero that stopped one of the terrorists in Australia is called Ahmad Al Ahmad.
The Anti-Israel mobs celebrated him being a Muslim, as if that made the terror attack less terrible.
But he is not a Muslim!
He is a Christian Maronite! pic.twitter.com/aV7lZBnIFC— Hamas Atrocities (@HamasAtrocities) December 14, 2025
Fury is now growing among Australia’s 117,000-strong Jewish community, almost 50,000 of whom live in and around Sydney, over what they regard as a preventable attack that followed two years of surging antisemitism.
New South Wales Premier Chris Minns said “This cowardly act of terrified violence is shocking and painful to see and represents some of our worst fears about terrorism in Sydney.”
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the “vile” attack as a “dark moment of the nation.” “This is a targeted attack on Jewish Australians on the first day of Hanukkah, which should be a day of joy, a celebration of faith,” Albanese said at a press conference in Canberra.
“An act of evil antisemitism, terrorism that has struck the heart of our nation,” he said. “An attack on Jewish Australians is an attack on every Australian, and every Australian tonight will be, like me, devastated on this attack on our way of life.
Levi Shemtov, a US-based rabbi, whose nephew was caught up in the fatal shooting, said that Sydney, which had also prided itself on its multiculturalism, had taken a dark turn. “Many people wanted to get as far away from the horrors of the Holocaust after it ended and went to Australia,” Shemtov told CNN, before adding that Sydney has “taken a turn for the worse, in a very major way.”
Sunday’s attack is the deadliest shooting in Australia since April 1996, when 35 people were killed and 23 others were wounded during a shooting in Port Arthur, Tasmania.
Time Figures from the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) show that antisemitic incidents in Australia reached historically high levels, at “almost five times the average annual number before October 7, 2023.” The group documented1,654 anti‑Jewish incidents across Australia between 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025, in addition to 2,062 incidents nationwide the year before.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that he had warned his Australian counterpart that the country’s policies fuel antisemitism.
“Three months ago I wrote to the Australian prime minister that your policy is pouring oil on the fire of antisemitism,” he said, referring to a letter he sent to Anthony Albanese in August following Canberra’s announcement that it would recognise Palestinian statehood. “Antisemitism is a cancer that spreads when leaders are silent and do not act,” Netanyahu added during a televised public address at an event in southern Israel.
Yad Vashem, Israel’s official Holocaust memorial center, has repeatedly raised concerns about a dangerous rise in antisemitic attacks in Australia, including in personal meetings with the premiers of Victoria and New South Wales.
Following an arson attack on a synagogue in Melbourne in July, the center said that “not enough is being done.” It called on Australian authorities to “implement robust educational initiatives to combat hatred and to teach about the dire dangers of unchecked antisemitism.”
A survivor of this attack is also a survivor of the Oct 7th Hamas attack on Israel.

Cue up the fear of backlash articles.
I can hardly wait.
Worldwide, COWARDLY cops won’t even return fire. Mass shooters blaze away and the COWARDLY cops are afraid that they might damage their recent manicure by actually pulling a trigger.
UK, Australia, even the USA … nothing but COWARDLY cops.
Alley-hoo-ackburrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Here in Canada, the Liberal government under. Mr.Carney, has taken the identical approach to its burgeoning Moslem population that the idiots in Australia have taken including recognizing the Palestinian state, and playing soft with its attitudes on its Jewish citizens., Our politicians are playing the identical games, and an attack on Jews in Canada will eventually happen.
Our police are equally useless as the Australian police have shown themselves to be.
One notes that the only person who came to the defence of the Jewish people attending Hanukah celebrations was a Moslem, while the useless Australian police did NOTHING.
Truly shocking.I expect to see simmilar terror attack stories coming out o Canada and the UK in the near future. Muslims are emboldened by so many Western countries supporting a Palestinian state.
Germany says that this was nothing more than the political islam, shit political islam, sounds like the coverring up of the mudslime offensive against us but why are they coverring this up as the many other attacks. i believe that they cover this up because they are the guilty ones and its them that import this and much more into our nations only then to blame us for the attack like we just didnt respect him or we should be more open, open assholes is what we have here and nothing else. this attack must be equalized. the bought media here will tell us that this has nothing to do with islam and anyone saying otherweise is a nazi and must be followed and silenced, then comes the government financed antifa and the socalled civil orgs like pro asyl or the migrant council or the many nwo, ngos that are also financed with our taxes and all of them tell us that islam is the religion of freedom and more. these orgs and media are the problem then they keep a blanket over this and its them that set all as nazis and more should anyone question the program. soon we all will feel this program…these orgs included and what then.
Looking like the shooters were father & son per British media.
I know one of them is dead.
Great. Conducting raids AFTER the fact.
