FLORIDA Governor Ron DeSantis says a lawsuit filed against him by Hamas-linked CAIR that he recently declared a terrorist organization is “very much welcome.”

Governor Ron DeSantis has declared via executive order that the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) are foreign terrorist organizations. CAIR promised a lawsuit, alleging defamation and that the order is unconstitutional.

Florida Phoenix  (h/t Victor S) DeSantis said the lawsuit will give the state discovery rights to the organization’s bank records and other information. “They have every right to sue and then we’re going to have a right to get the information we need to make sure,” DeSantis said.

Florida’s executive order calls on state agencies to deny material support or resources to the organizations.

“The Muslim Brotherhood’s Islamic extremist ideology is irreconcilable with foundational American principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness reflected in the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, especially including the right to religious freedom and the equal protection of the laws,” the executive order states.

The executive order links CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood.

“CAIR was designated as an unindicted co-conspirator by the United States Government in the largest terrorism-financing case in America history, and the court found ‘ample evidence to establish the association’ of CAIR with terrorist organizations,” the executive order states.

The executive order asserts that since its founding in Egypt in 1928, the Muslim Brotherhood “has developed into a transnational network with a long history of engaging in or supporting violence, including political assassinations and terror attacks on civilians, for the purpose of establishing a world-wide Islamic caliphate and imposing its Islamist system of belief across the globe, including in the United States.”

Additionally, the “Muslim Brotherhood created Hamas in 1987, the primary goal of which is the destruction of the State of Israel and the eradication of Jews in then- historic homeland of Judea and Samaria,” it continues.

“I think our executive order is kind of the beginning. I think you’re going to see statutory codification of how we handle different terror designations,” DeSantis said. On his social media, the governor posted that he hopes lawmakers proposing“to stop the creep of sharia law” “codify these protections for Floridians against CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Last month, President Donald Trump signed an executive order declaring that “certain chapters or other subdivisions of the Muslim Brotherhood shall be considered for designation as Foreign Terrorist organizations.”
