Professional Engineer here. That was not the wisest way to demolish that structure. A lot can go wrong, such as pieces of fractured concrete falling off and hitting the sledge guy. NEVER be under a structure you are about to demolish. He would have been better off getting a sturdy rope or cable and pulling the column with a vehicle. If he wanted a more spectacular demolition a few feet of Primacord would’ve done the trick.
