One of the sponsors was CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations), a Hamas-linked Muslim Brotherhood front group in America, recently designated a terrorist organization by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD says they’ve ended talks to reserve their facilities for the upcoming “Islamic Games Dallas” that were scheduled in May 2026, according to a statement shared by the district. The district says they were aware of a facility rental request for the 2026 Islamic Games, which were scheduled for May 9-10.
A graphic posted on the Islamic Games of Dallas website shows they were set to be held at Colleyville Heritage High School. The 2024 and 2025 Islamic Games had previously been held at Heritage High School according to previous Islamic Games social media posts.
“On January 19th, GCISD was made aware that an organization listed as a sponsor of the Islamic Games in North Texas has been declared a Terrorist Organization by the Governor of Texas,” the district says.
The district further referenced Texas Government Code § 2252.152, which states that a governmental entity cannot enter into a governmental contract with a company identified as a foreign terrorist organization. This, in turn, led the district to “severing the negotiations for the use of District properties for the 2026 Islamic Games.”
In a Monday statement, North Texas State Representative Jared Patterson (TX-106) says, “It has been brought to my attention that Grapevine-Colleyville ISD is hosting an Islamic Games with sponsors such as Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) New Jersey and others with tied to CAIR.” Patterson further states, “I am formally urging Grapevine-Colleyville ISD to cease partnership with organizations linked to terrorism and harm across the globe.”
In November 2025, Gov. Greg Abbott designated the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR as foreign terrorist organizations. In a statement during the designation, Gov. Abbott said “The actions taken by the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR to support terrorism across the globe and subvert our laws through violence, intimidation, and harassment are unacceptable.”
