Two of the Muslim counter-protesters arrested are accused of throwing bomb-like devices – glass jars wrapped in electrical tape filled with nuts, bolts, screws, and an ignitable fuse – at the anti-Islamization protesters.
NY Post Dozens of demonstrators rallying to stop public Muslim prayer, along with counter-protesters, were thrown into a chaos when smoke began billowing from a device launched into the crowd, The Post reported.
Counter-protesters turned out in droves after the online group General Strike NYC called on supporters to attend with their own rally, ‘Run the Nazis Out of NYC.’ Photos obtained by the outlet appeared to show an unidentified individual igniting what looked like a homemade grenade.
Six people are in custody after two homemade explosive devices were tossed outside Gracie Mansion Saturday during competing anti-Islamization and pro-Islamization protests, causing a panic. Dozens of demonstrators and counter-protesters fled as smoke started to billow from a device which appeared to have a lit fuse and was wrapped in duct tape.
The NYPD was still investigating whether the homemade devices were functional and if they contained any explosive material, said Commissioner Jessica Tisch. The NYPD is continuing its investigation, along with the Joint Terrorism Task Force, police sources said.
Muslim counter protester, Emir Balat, 18, lit and threw the first device into the crosswalk of East 87th Street and East End Avenue, where it struck a barrier and later extinguished itself, police said.
The second Muslim counter-protester, who has been tentatively identified as 19-year-old Ibrahim Nikk, allegedly handed the device to Balat, authorities said. Balat is alleged to have lit a second improvised explosive which he dropped on while running on East End Avenue between East 86th and East 87th Street.
Four others were cuffed for their role in the initial protest, which was organized by anti-Muslim, right-wing agitator Jack Lang. Lang was not arrested. His small group of 20 was met by about 125 pro-Islamization protesters, witnesses said.
Not surprisingly, Muslim Mayor Mamdani showed his support for the violent pro-Islamification counter-protesters:

Both need to be charged and tried by the Feds and NOT by Bragg and his minions.
