Why are Islam-pandering California Democrats submitting to demands from Hamas-linked terror organization CAIR?

Muslim Brotherhood front group CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) has convinced California Democratic lawmaker Assemblymember Matt Haney (D-San Francisco) to introduce legislation last week that would recognize two Muslim holidays as official state holidays. This would equal the number of official Christian state holidays, Christmas and Good Friday, despite the fact that Muslims only comprise a small percentage of the population.

NY Post (h/t Nita) AB 2017 would designate Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as state holidays, a move that Assemblymember Matt Haney (D-San Francisco) said would guarantee Muslims in California are “seen, valued and treated with the same dignity as every other community in our state,” according to FOX 11.

“No student should have to choose between celebrating one of the holiest days of their faith and showing up to school, and no worker should feel they have to sacrifice their religious observance,” Haney said in a news release, according to the outlet.

Supporters say the bill is a practical step toward giving California Muslims the same recognition and respect already reflected in state observances of other cultural and religious holidays. 

“This is a historic moment for California’s over one million Muslims. The climate of heightened fear and anti-Muslim hostility in our country remains a daily reality,” CAIR-CA Legislative & Government Affairs Director Oussama Mokeddem, said in a statement. “In this environment, publicly celebrating these holidays is a powerful way for California to show Muslim constituents that their joy, traditions, and presence in our state are deeply valued and protected.”

Speakers at the announcement other than sponsor Assemblymember Haney, were all Muslims including: State Senator and bill co-author Aisha Wahab, Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs Executive Director Khydeeja Alam, College of San Francisco Board of Trustees President Aliya Christi, Muslim Impact Council Founder Hala Hijazi, San Francisco District 5 Supervisor Bilal Mahmood, CAIR-CA Legislative & Government Affairs Director Oussama Mokeddem, SEIU Local 87 student member Mohamed Abozayd, Galileo Academy of Science and Technology High School student Hassan Radwan Haimed, and IFPTE Local 21 Chapter President Muhammad Yasir.
