A series of rallies across the Arab world that were meant to draw two million participants for a so-called “Global March to Jerusalem,” fizzled on Friday to localized demonstrations in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Even better, four American ultra-Orthodox rabbis from the extreme anti-Zionist Neturei Karta movement were beaten and verbally abused by local participants at the start of the event.
TIMES OF ISRAEL is reporting that four radical Orthodox rabbis affilated with the Israel-hating group, Naturei Karta, were attacked at the anti-Israel rally in Jordan yesterday.
FOUR JEWSwho have devoted their lives to the elimination of Israel, who have visited Iran and hugged Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during participation in a Holocaust Denial Conference were beaten during Land Day protests. They were beaten while demonstrating against Israel with people who wish to eliminate Israel.
If ever there were credentials that would guarantee acceptance by an anti-Israel mob, these Rabbis had it. But it did not matter to the rioters that these four Rabbis hated Israel as much as they did. It did not matter that they fought as enthusiastically as any Islamist fanatic or leftist radical against the Jewish state. What mattered to the demonstrators was that these Israel hating, holocaust denying, despot loving Rabbis were Jews. And so they were beaten by the very people they flew halfway round the world to support. YNET NEWS reported that while Israel’s northern and eastern borders remained unthreatened, and the rallies in neighboring countries were largely peaceful, there was violence at the Jordan event: Local media reported that They were rescued by other participants. Neturei Karta members also joined a rally in Lebanon.
Jordanian news sites have reported Friday afternoon that some 20,000 people are participating in a mass procession in Jordan. Four rabbis from the extremist anti-Zionist Neturei Karta sect were also taking part in the march and carried signs reading: “Judaism demands the liberation of Jerusalem and all of Palestine.”
One of the movement leaders told Amman media outlets that they came to support the Palestinians and demonstrate that Judaism is different than Zionism. “We are against Zionism and in favor of the rights of Palestinians,” he said.
“We are here to say that the occupation of Jerusalem and Palestine is unjust,” said Rabbi David Feldman, who attended the rally. “This isn’t Judaism, this isn’t the voice of the Jews.
“This is a catastrophe for the Palestinian people,” he claimed. “We cannot let it go on. This is an embarrassment to all of us that we have let it persist for so long.”
“We want the world to know that Judaism does not in any way accept the existence of the State of Israel, the occupation and the oppression of the Palestinian people,” said Rabbi David Weiss, who rallied in southern Lebanon alongside three other Neturei Karta rabbis.
“It’s goes against the Torah, against Jewish education, it goes against the stance of Jews who are loyal to the Torah worldwide,” he added.
A fellow rabbi, Aharon Cohen, added: “We are here to mark Land Day and tell the world not to blame the Jewish people for the crimes of Zionism. Judaism and Zionism are two separate ideas.”
Several rally participants expressed anger over the presence of Neturei Karta members, and an altercation erupted between the two groups.

There are only two times in the Bible when God gives men permission to avenge in His name. First, after the Midianites committed hideous, violent acts against the Israelites, the cup of God’s wrath against the Midianites was full, and He commanded Moses to lead the people in a holy war against them. “The LORD said to Moses, ‘Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people’” (Numbers 31:1-2). Here, again, Moses did not act on his own; he was merely an instrument to carry out God’s perfect plan under His guidance and instruction. Second, Christians are to be in submission to the rulers God has set over us because they are His instruments for “vengeance on evildoers” (1 Peter 2:13-14). As in Moses’ case, these rulers are not to act on their own, but are to carry out God’s will for the punishment of the wicked.
It is tempting to try to take on the role of God and seek to punish those who we feel deserve it. But because we are sinful creatures, it is impossible for us to take revenge with pure motives. This is why the Mosaic Law contains the command “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD” (Leviticus. 19:18). Even David, a “man after God’s own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14), refused to take revenge on Saul, even though David was the innocent party being wronged. David submitted to God’s command to forego vengeance and trust in Him: “May the LORD judge between you and me. And may the LORD avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you (1 Samuel 24:12).
As Christians, we are to follow the Lord Jesus’ command to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44), leaving the vengeance to God.
