Iymen Chehade [Hamman Iymen Chehade] is an adjunct professor of Humanities, History and Social Science at Columbia College Chicago (COLUM) and a lecturer at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago (SAIC). Chehade is the faculty advisor to both Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and the Israel-hating Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) chapters at COLUM. He has also been a speaker at the National SJP Conference.
Chehade supports the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement and uses his classroom as a platform to promote BDS. Chehade has also promoted BDS “in front of congressmen and diplomats” on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters. SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
JVP, which generally employs civil disobedience tactics to disrupt pro-Israel speakers and events, consists of American Jews and non-Jewish “allies” highly critical of Israeli policies. A staunch supporter of the BDS movement, JVP claims to aim its campaigns at companies that either support the Israeli military (Hewlett-Packard) or are active in the West Bank (SodaStream).
The group is often criticized for serving as a tokenized Jewish voice for the pro-Palestinian camp and is widely regarded as the BDS movement’s “Jewish wing.” JVP denies the notion of “Jewish peoplehood” and has even gone so far as to refer to its own Ashkenazi (Jews who spent the Diaspora in European countries) leadership as “white supremacy inside of JVP.”
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 as an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement” to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel and anti-Israel rallies and protests.

I really hate it when a person, especially a Muslim is purposely running for Congress, so that they and their group can push their ideology and their agenda proverbially down our throats. Such people fail to carry out their main congressional duty of representing the people in the congressional district that they were elected from. Such people should never be elected to government office and those Congress people who are doing this need to be removed from Congress

I agree with You…my gut feeling tells me that this lady is sincere. She may be what i call a cultural muslim rather than an orthodox . Islam is only about 20 % religion ie rites ,rituals, prayers, superstitions etc…the rest 80% is political ideology Muslims don’t live in a vacuum, many live among or with infidels so much so that they absorb the ethos and mores of the larger society. For example in india where hindus tend to be vegetarians …there are even muslims who are vegetarians eschewing meat..somehow they are able to latch onto this or that hadith to justify vegetarianism. Islam is full of contradictions but sometimes this contradictions can be put to good use

I suspect she is a cultural muslim who could easily become a vegetarian ( altho majority of muslims are meat eaters despite the fact that mohammad hmself was probably a quasi vegetarian as meat was scarce in those days) just as easily as she would protect the lives of infidels were she to be sworn in as a police officer herself ( she could latch onto the hadith about how ” if you save the life of a human being it is as if you have saved the life of all humankind etc etc….actually this saying in the quran was directed to the jews lol and not to the muslims ..fodder for another forum)
