Masked man pulls out a gun in a mosque, New York officials blame “Islamophobia”

During Friday prayers at the Muslim Center of New York in Flushing, a masked individual pulled what appeared to be a deadly weapon, which turned out to be a BB gun. However, NY officials and the broadcast media conveniently leave out the most important fact about the story: THE GUNMAN IS ALSO A MUSLIM.

Attorney General Tish James wrote on X. “This is horrific under any circumstances, especially when a community is joining in prayer. We must stand united against Islamophobia.”

Sen. Charles Schumer said he was “disturbed to learn that there was yet another potential act of violence in a house of worship—at the Muslim Center in Queens.” “Islamophobia is unacceptable, and we must continue to reject hatred and bigotry in every form.”

“Every New Yorker should be able to observe their religion without fear or intimidation,” Muslim Mayor Zohran Mamdani  said on X. “

Daily News A masked Muslim man, Sheikh Haque, 33, sparked a panic by pulling a BB pistol during Friday prayers at a Queens mosque, police said.

Haque was tackled by a congregant inside the Muslim Center of New York on Geranium Ave. near Kissena Blvd. in Flushing after pulling the pistol in front of dozens of worshippers at about 1:30 p.m. He was held on the ground by congregants until cops arrived and recovered the pistol, which turned out to be a BB gun, officials said.

Police charged Haque with weapons possession and menacing. His arraignment in Queens Criminal Court was pending on Saturday.

He has not been charged with a hate crime, police confirmed. (Why would they? He’s one of their own)
