Authorities in Germany have shot and killed a knife-wielding attacker who stabbed two pedestrians while shouting “Allahu Akbar” near to the train station in the German city of Ansbach on Thursday evening.
Daily Mail (h/t Nita) According to the police, the man attacked several passers-by south of the station and injured at least two people with a knife. The two victims are not thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries and no police were injured.
The alleged perpetrator was a 30-year-old Afghan Muslim, a police spokesman said, and confirmed that while he was known to police, authorities were reluctant adding, “We know who he is,” but did not want to give more details as the investigation is ongoing, according to the Die Welt daily. Searches are currently underway in the surrounding area.
In the video, he is shown stalking a group of people through a car park – while holding a long blade. As he nears the group, he suddenly sprints towards them. The people run from the man, as the sound of sirens can be heard getting closer to the scene. The footage ends with the man running down a path and out of sight behind a hedgerow. Some time after, the man was shot dead by police. According to German tabloid Bild, he ‘died on the spot’.
Investigators have not yet confirmed a terrorist or Islamist motive, as seen in other recent attacks across the country, but police are still actively investigating this possibility.
Ansbach was the site of another Muslim terrorist attack in 2016, in which a suicide bomber injured 15 people outside a wine bar in the town. The bomber was identified as Mohammad Daleel – a 27-year-old Syrian asylum seeker who had pledged allegiance to Islamic State.

You can bet your money on officials investigating into the cops who shot the perpetrator rather than the motive behind the attack.

That happened not far from me and who cares this is happening more times daily here.
