Actually, the order is Drawing, Hanging and Quartering – a medieval and extremely brutal punishment in England. The guilty person is tied to a panel that is drawn behind a horse to the place of execution, then hanged by the neck but without a drop to ensure that the neck was not broken, and cut down while still conscious. The genitals are then cut off and the stomach slit open, where the intestines and heart are removed and set on fire. The other organs are torn out and finally the head is cut off and the body divided into four quarters. The head and quarters were parboiled to prevent them rotting too quickly and then displayed upon the city gates as a grim warning to all.
A delusion is a belief, and an especially irrational belief, that a person holds to be true despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. What we are seeing in society is that many people no longer accept facts as they are. So many people are positively deluded. There is no objective reality to these people. What they want to believe, is what is true, no matter what the evidence is.
But ALAS, in the REAL world, facts DO matter. We may not always know ALL the facts, but we assess what facts that there are, and make a determination based on those facts.
Of course, this kind of madness will eventually burn itself out simply because delusions cannot stand up to facts. Facts will always win in the end. But so many people will have to have a painful realization when they find out their delusions cannot stand in the face of the REAL WORLD.
