Across all Muslim countries, dogs are common but not celebrated. They are treated like other animals: fed, treated for diseases, and mostly ignored. Muslims typically do not keep pet dogs for companionship, such as sleeping with them on the couch. Their primary role is as guard dogs.
If you go to Saudi Arabia or anywhere in the wealthier Middle-East, all dogs have to be licensed and registered. They can only be kept inside one’s property. In Malaysia which is right next door to my home here in Singapore, certain breeds like American Bulldog, pitbulls, English Mastiffs, and other large breeds are forbidden (but not Labrador Retriever but you’d still need a license) The problem breeds are summarily executed upon discovery. If needed, they can be exported to a dog loving country like Australia at the expense of the dog lover. Why should anyone in a Muslim country have to suffer those stupid animals?
Muslim countries have common sense regulations that keep dogs in control, not the other way around: we don’t want to emulate the depraved White Westerners who remain under the control of their canines. The owner of this blog is a horse lover. That’s one splendid and magnificent animal. All Muslims love horses although nowadays they aren’t widely accessible in urban areas. Why don’t we talk about the actual beautiful animals that matter? I remember there used to be feel good stories about stallions, mares, and geldings alike. And I used to contribute positive comments. Ghulam, 2 other points: Re: Wudu: I’ve never understood why Muslims consider Wudu to be a cleansing ritual considering you only use water and no soap. Also, I can see why Muslims see sheep and goats as more affectionate than dogs since they don’t seem to object to Muslim men having sex with them.
Wudu is performed in common sanitary areas inside a mosque compound. It can be performed with soaps but access to soaps for thousands of people cannot be guaranteed at the same time. it’s easier to run multiple taps through a pipe.
In North America, most mosques are based in rowhouse style homes, so that means a water closet. Again they may or may not have a soap.
Please read my comment carefully. All I said was that dogs are not always mistreated in Muslim homes. Some Muslims do keep dogs as pets. It’s just that it is much less common.

I understand that in small villages the common preying place of worship has a sort of pool whose waters almost never get replaced. In the West, during time when Muslims prey they wash their feet in the sink and leave a trail of water all over the place! Even in this instance, where there is soap available, they will not use it to cleanse their feet, elbow, ears etc., It is all merely a ritual.
