OBAMA is supporting and financing the establishment of a Shari’a Law system in Kenya

In 2006, Obama raised over $1 million for his cousin Raila Odinga, candidate and supporter of terrorist groups, who now is prime minister of Kenya after staging a coup and grabbing power from the Christian prime minister.

Joe Biden was in Kenya leading what sounded a lot like a rally for that nation’s new constitution, one that’s going to be voted on in August. It’s a fatally flawed document, inimical to the values of many Kenyans. The government lost a constitutional vote once before, and it’s called out the big

guns for this propaganda campaign, including claimed promises of an Obama visit if the populace knuckles under.

First, Article 26 of the proposed constitution would overturn the prohibition on abortion, allowing it when “in the opinion of a trained health professional, there is need for emergency treatment, or the life or health of the mother is in danger or if permitted by any other written law.” That’s a fairly open window, one that has abortion opponents alarmed.

U.S. financial and rhetorical support for the Kenyan constitution has some members of Congress calling for an investigation. In a letter to Department of State officials and others, Reps. Chris Smith of New Jersey, Darrell Issa of California and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida raised questions about U.S. lobbying in Kenya — specifically, the possibility that the Obama administration may have violated federal law in doing so.

Administration officials have denied any impropriety. But, as the letter points out, our ambassador to Kenya has been quoted as saying that the U.S. has given Kenya $2 million for “civic education” on the constitution, and that we’re committed to more.

Shocking report on Obama’s relationship with cousin Raila Odinga and his ties to al-Qaeda and 9/11. Odinga has promised to establish Kenya as a safe haven for terrorists once he seizes power.

“The U.S. shouldn’t be interfering with this process, and we have serious questions about why the Obama administration is promoting a constitution which allows abortion on demand and waters down protections for religious freedom,” Rebecca Marchinda of the New York-based World Youth Alliance, which has an office in Nairobi, says.

And, as if the West’s exporting of its abortion license to Kenya — a nation known for growing, enthusiastic Catholic and other Christian presences weren’t alarming enough, the proposed constitution would also create a legal system within a legal system — codifying the strengthening of sharia by making it apply to every Muslim Kenyan. As Eric Rassbach of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty points out: “People are subjected to these tribunals merely by virtue of what religious community they were born into, and they have no way of opting out.”

Nina Shea, director of the Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom, has a more direct and alarming warning: “The U.S. is drifting unconsciously, haltingly, inconsistently toward a foreign policy that actively promotes the state coercion of Islamic strictures. It adopted such a policy in its financial and legal drafting support of the constitutions of Iraq and Afghanistan. … It did so at the U.N. Human Rights Council in October 2009, when the U.S. joined with Egypt, representing the Organization of the Islamic Conference, to introduce a resolution calling for states to enforce their hate-speech laws. It explained its initiative, which shocked many NGOs, as seeking to ‘reach out to Muslim countries.’”

The Kenyan government has been “egregious” in pulling out all stops to propagandize for this constitution, says Terrence McKeegan, vice president and senior counsel for the Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute.

Judy Kalinga, a lawyer in Kenya, sounding a lot like an American voter at a town hall or tea party, asserts: “We opponents of this constitution — opponents of these provisions on abortion and sharia law — want a constitution, we want reform, we need reform. But not this constitution.” She and other Kenyans want to restart. But President Obama and the West say they know best.

These are the positions of the man for whom Obama campaigned and raised money.

On Aug. 29, 2007, Raila Odinga signed a secret Memorandum of Understanding with Sheikh Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum of Kenya. In exchange for Muslim support, Odinga agreed, among other things, to:

  • Rewrite the national constitution to install shariah as the law in all “Muslim declared regions.”
  • Elevate Islam as “the only true religion” and give Islamic leaders an “oversight role to monitor activities of ALL other religions.”
  • Establish shariah courts in every Kenyan divisional headquarters.
  • Ban Christian proselytism.
  • Fire the police commissioner for “allow[ing] himself to be used by heathens and Zionists” to oppress Muslims.
  • Adopt Islamic dress codes for women.
  • Ban alcohol and pork.

Andrew C. McCarthy, the former U.S. attorney who investigated the American embassy bombing in Nairobi, Kenya, charges that Obama interfered in Kenya’s internal politics possibly in violation of the Logan Act. The centuries-old law bars Americans who are “without authority of the United States” from conducting relations “with any foreign government … in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States.”

Even with strong Muslim backing, Odinga (who does business with a wealthy Saudi donor to Osama bin Laden) was defeated in the December 2007 election. But he accused the incumbent president of rigging the vote and incited his supporters to riot in protest.

Over the next month, some 1,500 Kenyans were killed and more than 500,000 displaced – with most of the violence led by Muslims, who set churches ablaze and hacked Christians to death with machetes. All the while, Odinga was in regular communications with Obama.

“Odinga’s strategy, the extortion strategy of Islamist intimidation, worked to a fare-thee-well,” McCarthy notes in his book. To appease his angry mob of supporters, he was named prime minister and allowed to share power with the president.

“With Obama’s helping hand, leftists and Islamists had combined forces to overwhelm a constitutional democracy,” McCarthy says, while decrying the national media’s “stubborn disinterest” in the “stunning” chain of events.

The same alliance can be seen in the U.S., he says, as the Obama administration reaches out to the radical Muslim Brotherhood, which according to the FBI, has a plan to infiltrate and sabotage the U.S. from within. Obama and other Alinsky “revolutionaries” are carrying out a similar plan, he maintains. And here we have Joe Biden endorsing the Shari’a-based constitution on behalf of Obama while pledging financial support to Kenya after its ratification.

Three Republican congressmen reveal Barack Obama secretly spent $23 million of taxpayer money for a Shari’a based Constitution for Kenya.

An investigation by three Republican congressmen has revealed the Obama administration has secretly spent $23 million of U.S. taxpayer dollars in Kenya to fund a “Yes” vote ona constitutional referendum scheduled for Aug. 4 that would increase access to abortions in Kenya and establish legal status for Islamic law tribunals.

Meanwhile, trusted sources in Kenya tell WND that the White House has used Vice President Joseph Biden’s trip to Kenya in June and the office of U.S. Ambassador to Kenya Michael E. Ranneberger to put out the message that passage of the referendum would enable the White House to open the floodgates to allow millions of dollars of additional U.S. government aid and private investment capital to flow into Kenya.

Last week, in response to inquiries from Reps. Chris Smith, R-N.J., Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., and Darrell Issa, R-Calif., the U.S. Agency for International Development admitted to spending more than $23 million of U.S. taxpayer money to influence voters in Kenya to pass the highly contentious constitution.
