Jewish students at UC Law San Francisco already feel compelled to conceal their Jewish identity out of concern for their safety.
University of California Law San Francisco, a public school university, is defending its student government, after the latter reportedly used a school listserv to encourage graduates to buy and wear keffiyehs to graduation ceremonies this month.
According to JNS.org, an apparent student government email, which includes a link to the keffiyeh order form, reads “At this year’s commencement, just as in the year before, we are organizing a keffiyeh order for graduation as a show of support with Palestinian students, faculty, and communities across the nation.”
The link directs students to the “Solidarity with Palestine at Commencement and Keffiyeh Order Form,” where the symbolic scarf can be purchased for $12. If a student wants a keffiyeh but can’t afford it, they can request one for free. The form also gives students the option to purchase “a pin in support of Palestine.”
CJN Antisemitism watchdog, Stand With Us wrote to the school’s leadership on May 7, alleging that the student government used university resources and tools supported by mandatory student fees to promote a “solidarity with Palestine” campaign ahead of the May 11 graduation.
“Some Jewish students at UC Law San Francisco already feel compelled to conceal their Jewish identity out of concern for their safety, including refraining from wearing visible symbols such as Star of David necklaces,” the Jewish nonprofit stated.
This campaign, which used university resources to promote a controversial political message, raises serious concerns about UCSF Law’s political neutrality and about the equal treatment and inclusion of Jews and Israelis on campus,” the leadership of StandWithUS wrote to the school.
“The message contained no disclaimer distinguishing these views from those of the university,” they added. “Yet it included a specific call to political action by UCSF Law students, namely, to purchase keffiyehs from an order form provided with the statement and to wear them during the upcoming commencement ceremony.”

KEFFIYEHS are banned in India as they’re widely seen as Jihadi terroristic clothing.
Solidarity protests involving the display of terroristic symbols, including the keffiyeh, have been restricted in big Indian cities, and many protesters have been detained.
However, if you’re a proper Palestinian tourist in India arrived on a visa, you can wear your national symbol as long as you’re being non-threatening.
Foreign visitors to India are strictly prohibited from joining any political protests. Their visas are immediately cancelled and they get swiftly deported for any rabble-rousing activity.
The US should not have to tolerate foreign students/visitors engaging in public protests. That’s a violation of visa conditions.
Trump’s Secretary of State Rubio has made good on his policy of deporting and revoking the visas of students who trash the country and publicly support terror groups.
