From the hoteliers perspective, they want to make some quick money after experiencing 2 years of heavy losses in the pandemic.
So when the government offers a huge wad of cash, it’s hard to refuse.
Hotels and restaurants are generally unprofitable businesses.
For any investment you make, it takes many years before you can turn a profit. Unless you own a McDonald’s or KFC franchise where the returns are much faster.

As the hotel industry is unprofitable in general, it racks up a serious amount of debt which the hotel owners pay in installments to the banks.
INSOLVENCY is the only alternative to these owners. Staying the course means tremendous financial risk which most people cannot endure.
Of course, they can sell off their properties for a loss and flee to another country. That’s what I’d have done if I were in that situation.
Basically when the government throws the hoteliers a life jacket, they grab it immediately.
People have to do a lot of disagreeable stuff just to keep their head above water, to feed their families, pay the bills, and build a future for their children.
As you’ve raised many kids, you’d have to agree how hard it is in an unpredictable world.
