Gateway Pundit (h/t Nita) Details of the embassy move were hammered out during recent talks between the Israeli and Hungarian foreign ministers, Eli Cohen and Péter Szijjártó, according to TOI: “The two reached an agreement on the matter in recent days, with the details hashed out during intensive talks between Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and Hungary’s top diplomat Peter Szijjarto, senior Foreign Ministry officials told Zman Yisrael, the Times of Israel’s Hebrew language sister site, on Friday.
The move will make Hungary the first European Union member state to open an embassy in Jerusalem, which the bloc opposes in the absence of a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.”
Ignorant Biden UN ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield recently sparked outrage in Hungary by falsely accusing Hungary of “Holocaust memorial vandalism” for an incident which actually happened in Sweden. Thomas-Greenfield was fired by Donald Trump in 2017 for incompetence, but rehired by Joe Biden because of her race and sex. She has yet to apologize to pro-Israel Hungary for her insult.
Not surprisingly, the EU slammed Hungary’s plan to move Israeli embassy to Jerusalem. Criticizing the reported plans, EU foreign policy spokesperson Peter Stano said that in the EU “there is a long-standing position which stems from the UN Security Council resolution 478 from 1980, which calls on all member states of the UN to withdraw embassies and diplomatic missions to Israel from Jerusalem.”
Hungary’s decision to move its diplomatic mission to Jerusalem would be a first for an EU member state, and run the risk of undermining the EU’s long-term goal of a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine. (As if that would be a BAD thing)
The Czech Republic inaugurated its diplomatic office in Jerusalem on Thursday joining a handful of nations to have done so following a recent shift in U.S policy to recognize the city as the official capital of Israel. Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi welcomed the move and praised the Czech Republic for “leading the change in Europe,” towards recognizing Jerusalem as the capital.
The decision of the Czech Republic is a break with the European Union’s policy that countries should not open diplomatic offices in Jerusalem, seen as support for the disputed city’s annexation by Israel.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield Is an uninformed space filler and very undiplomatic. She is worse than Dan Quayle who said he had to brush up on his Latin before visiting Latin America. The idea is to have an ambassador to better relations, particularly economic, between the countries, not to piss them off by falsely accusing them. Luckily Hungary realized that Thomas Greenfield is an idiot, and it did not hurt our relations with them. Of note, under Orban’s leadership, Hungary is one of two European countries who did not trash themselves by admitting Muslim invaders into their borders. Hungary knows that the improvement in its relations with Israel by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital by moving their embassy there is in Hungary’s best interest. They also realize that catering to the Muslims and Muslim lovers is not.
